When it comes to setting up dates, you have two choices—plan ahead or just go on the fly.
In the plan ahead route, typically you ask early in the week for a date that will take place in the coming weekend. The good thing is, you’ll have the luxury of several days to prep and plan for the date. In that time you can figure out what you’ll do together, where you’ll go, what you’ll eat. But then there is also a downside. You also have lots of time to stress about what you’ll say, what you’ll wear, and if she’ll like you.
So what about the other method? Let’s say it’s already Friday night, and you meet someone you just click with and you don’t want your time together to end. Instead of scrambling trying to think of what you can do together, here are some last minute date ideas you can do TONIGHT.
Cosmic Bowling. Many bowling alleys have extended hours on the weekends, even well into the night with glow in the dark or other party features. Check out your local bowling alley to see what they have going on tonight.
Open Mic Night. This date would definitely be a night to remember. Go check out local talent and maybe you’ll be inspired to show off for your date, too.
Thrift Shopping. Ok, so it sounds a little geeky. But admit that you’ve had fun with your friends just dinking around at the thrift shop trying on funky clothes and checking out the odd wares. Why not try it with a date?
Be Book Nerds. Who doesn’t love getting lost in a library or bookstore? Wander to different sections together and read the backs of books to each other. It’ll spawn some great conversation.
Play Some Pool. Whether you have a pool table in your basement or can find a local pool hall, get your game on. Come up with pool names for each other and maybe even start a friendly wager.
Get Your Dance On. A late night dance class would be ridiculously fun. If you can’t find a class, just head to a dance hall and shake your stuff.
Local Coffee Shop. We mean one of those hole in the wall places that is totally unique and local to your town. Probably has some sort of Christmas lights and big fluffy chairs and brick walls. The ambiance and snacks and drinks on the menu make for a really relaxed date.
Work Out. Maybe going to the gym isn’t the first thing you think about when figuring out what to do on a date. But if you are both into exercising, it could definitely be fun. Take a class together like yoga or some other group fitness activity.
Board Game It. You know you have a pile of board games in your closet. Why not put them to good use? You could play them at your house, but you could also get creative with the location. Maybe head to a fun spot in town to play to make it a little more special.
Taste Test. This type of date is super fun. Go to the grocery store and pick ONE item, like root beer, dark chocolate bars, or applesauce. Buy every brand the store carries. Then bring them all home and have a taste test! Just think about how fun it would be to try 16 different root beers.
Be Chefs at Home. Watch a cooking show, then go grab all the stuff to cook it at the store. Then come back to the kitchen and cook yoursevlves an awesome meal together.
