The sun is shining, the temperature is rising, and you want to take advantage of the gorgeous summer weather while you can–while also bringing a date along. Can’t say we blame you! Hot summer days can lead to hot summer nights, which can lead to some interesting encounters with your date.
If you’re looking to line up some outdoor dates to enjoy the summer weather, look no further. Here are plenty to try:
Picnic
Pack up a basket full of goodies like cheese, crackers, fruit, a bottle of wine, and check out a local park. Don’t forget to bring a big blanket for you both to sit on! The nicer the day, the longer you’ll both want to linger. Tip: pack some wet wipes for easy clean up.
Walk
Summer is the perfect time to get outside and take a walk with your date. A walk can be as casual as you make it, or completely romantic. Either way, your date will love it. The great thing is, you can go on a walk any time of the day or night. The trick is to pick the best spot. Downtown is great to see unique shops as you chat. A river walk would be an awesome spot for a bit of nature. Even just around your neighborhood could be fun, especially if you end up hand in hand.
Bird Watching
Grab two pair of binoculars and take your date on a unique date with nature! Call your bird watching friends or the local bird watching club for the best spots and times of day to see birds in your area. Don’t forget to bring a bird guidebook and a camera along with you! This type of date really takes advantage of the great outdoors, plus lots of chat time with your date.
Geocaching
Whether you have less than an hour, or most of the day, you could spend a lot of date time outside geo caching. It’s basically like a treasure hunt for little trinkets you can go on pretty much anywhere. Basically, people leave little things for you to find using an app. It’s free and fun! Be sure to bring along your own little treasures to leave for the next geo cachers to come along.
Pokemon GO
This is also a fun app that gets you outdoors, and it’s also a treasure hunt! But instead of actual little trinkets, you’ll be catching projected images. They are location specific, so start by checking out popular visitor spots in our area.
Enter a Race Together
Are you both runners? A race is a fun outdoor date idea. It definitely has the potential to turn into lots of time together if you decide to train together. But sign up for a race, wear matching outfits, and have a blast! All the endorphins from running will make the date even better.
Water Park
It’s summer, it’s hot. Why not head to the water park? Grab your swimming suits and spend a few hours going on the slides, relaxing in the lazy river, and rubbing sunblock on each other.
Go Boating
Imagine a day on the water with your date, just relaxing or even fishing! This is the perfect way to spend a summertime date.
Go for a Hike
Are you two a little adventurous? Why not go for a hike? The great outdoors is calling, and hiking is such a great way to connect with nature. Talk with your date about how difficult a hike they are willing to do, and be sure to pack all the essentials you’ll need–especially water. It may be a bit of work to get to the top, but it will be well worth it.
Outdoor Sporting Event
Baseball games, tennis matches, soccer games… outdoor sporting events of all shapes and sizes can make a great date. You’ll have the sporting event to watch, but you’ll be siting side by side. You’ll be able to observe each other and talk, all while enjoying the beautiful summer weather.
