Here are some of the top rated Los Angeles restaurants via Yelp.com (in the moderate price range) that make a good impression!
Yup Dduk La
3603 W 6th St
If you’re looking for something a little spicy, this is a great place to bring a date. They even have a Ktown Spicy Challenge, if you’re up for it. Its most popular dishes include Army Stew, which includes spam, sausage, tofu, onions, rice cakes and cheese. They also have some other fun choices you may not have ever had before, including boneless chicken feet, grilled pork bulgogi, and much more.
Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken
1262 Crenshaw Blvd
If you’re in the mood for fried chicken, you gotta take your date to Gus’s. Many Yelp reviewers reported that the chicken is moist and also crispy, so it’s a win there. But you’ll also win with all of the yummy sides. Fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, fried okra, potato salad, cole slaw, mac & cheese, and lots more. If you have room for dessert, definitely try a slice of pecan pie.
704 S Alvarado St
Maybe you and your date want a nice lunch or something a little lighter for dinner. Definitely check out Langer’s, which is a top rated deli in L.A. If you are a pastrami fan, you’ve gotta come try the #19 with cole slaw in the sandwich. You can also try the patty melt, corned beef, turkey, ham, and more. If you’re not in the mood for a sandwich, you can also try one of their soups, chicken salad, or even chopped liver. Check it out!
1412 Glendale Blvd
If you want variety, and maybe an awesome breakfast, try The Semi-Tropic. It’s a laid back atmosphere you’ll probably come back to again and again. The churro waffle, chicken tamale, scone and avocado toast are customer favorites, and the drink selection and coffee is awesome. Bring your date here and both of you are sure to find something on the menu that you love.
Mex Perú Gipsy
414 E 12th St
While in L.A., you gotta the Mexican food. Why not take a date along? But this restaurant has a bit of a twist. While the head chef is from Mexico, the owner is from Peru. So the menu definitely has that South American influence. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall, but aren’t those usually the best-tasting places? Tortas, mole, steak, lomo saltado, fried rice, and much more. Yelp customers absolutely loved the personal service.
2771 W Pico Blvd
Greek/Mediterranean food more your style? This casual spot is fun and worth a visit. There is even a vegetarian menu to make things easier. Grilled eggplant, sizzling shrimp santorini, lamb gyro, lamb chops, souvlaki, and just about everything you would expect from a Greek restaurant. You may even be greeted by the welcoming owner of the joint.
